GlacierGreetings to all -

I want to let everybody know about an opening in the clarinet section of the
US Military Academy Band at West Point. We are one of the three Special
Bands in the Army, and one of the military band fields' best kept secrets.
We have the same rank and pay structures as the D.C. service bands, but with
much less travel. Our section normally has 9 Bb clarinets, one Eb and one
bass clarinet, and the entire concert band numbers around 45. Assignment to
our band is permanent (NO transferring every few years). The vast majority
of our members stay 20 years or longer, making vacancies very infrequent.

The United States Military Academy Band is the oldest musical organization
in the United States Army. Its primary mission is to provide musical
support for the United States Corps of Cadets. The Military Academy Band
performs a wide variety of commitments, including public concerts,
ceremonies, chamber music recitals, recording sessions, and athletic events,
and has performed at such prestigious venues as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln
Center, Tanglewood, and the Saratoga Performing Arts Center.

An assignment in the United States Military Academy Band is stabilized.
Promotion to Staff Sergeant is awarded after completion of four months
service. Benefits include medical and dental care for you and your immediate
family. Educational benefits include a college loan repayment program and
tuition assistance.
The deadline for tapes and applications is April 1, 2002, and those invited
to audition will be flown to West Point at the goverment's expense.
Interested applicants should send a resume and audition tape, featuring
selections of your choice, to
