A few years ago I played in the recording session and broadcast for the
Special Olympics which were done in the Yale Bowl. The recording session was
done in NYC earlier in the week. We were instructed to just fake it for the
broadcast. Most of us borrowed plastic horns in case of rain. It was
interesting that the rhythm section for the broadcast was different from the
recording session. The session had NY studio guys, so the broadcast was done
with guys who had no idea what was going on. No matter.

I remember that one of the trumpet players spent most of the evening softly
doing lips slurs and technical patterns (Clarke studies or whatever)
