Dan & Ed,
The Wiseman cases have a woodshell and a leather cover with a foam padding between the wood and leather (on my double clarinet model). If you go their website www.wisemancases.com, Howard discusses what they are made of. I am very pleased with my case. All the clarinet pieces fit very snuggly, without touching the keys (for the most part). I would trust my clarinets in it over about any other case I have ever seen or used.
