Dan,
It sounds like you don't want a "traditional" soft case. What you need
is to make yourself (or commission someone like me to make) a
specially-designed case.
If you feel like taking on a craft project, here's how you do it: You
need to take the instrument apart and plan out how big the case you want
is and what layout of parts you'd like not to mention how much room you
want for accessories). Then find a nice strong equipment case (SKB makes
many such cases) which meets these dimensions - or you could scavenge an
instrument case of the right dimensions and rip out the existing padding.
Once you have these items, you buy some very stiff foam rubber (like one
uses for a camping pad) and you cut out the shape of each of the parts with
a very sharp knife. After you have the cutouts all correct, you cover the
foam with fabric (gotten at any fabric store) and glue the fabric to the
foam with some sort of contact cement. And, Voila! A custom case which is
hard-sided and shoud fit your instrument like a glove. I've done it quite a
few times with excellent results - the last time with a bass clarinet.
Cheers...
