Subj: [kl] Grrr...I need help with Cakewalk Express 8
Date: Sun, 20 Jan 2002 21:08:18 -0500

Okay. I'm frustrated and ignorant. Amazing how those quite often are
partners in our lives. Well, they are married right now in mine.

I have Cakewalk Express 8 and I am using it on my laptop to send the
accompaniment to my Soundblaster card so I can get the effects (reverb) on
the midi as well as my clarinet input through the mic. As far as I can
tell, the reverb and other effects that the software will give me will not
work on midi sounds that come from the same soundcard as the effects
processor. Ignorance? Truth? I don't know. It's just not working on MY
computer.

So Cakewalk is on the laptop and I play directly into my Soundblaster.
Fine. It is working. Now...

I do not understand how to get the Cakewalk to adjust the volume levels in
the midi. I can change the notes. I can change the pan. I can change the
tempo and create retardations. But I cannot setup the dynamics so the
freagin' piano is not clumping out chords at a constant forte levels through
the soft passages of the Standford Sonata!

PLEASE HELP SOMEONE!!!

As much as I would appreciate anyone's help, sincerely, I do not need, "Try
this program...it does that stuff" as an answer. I need, "This is how you
adjust the dynamics in Cakewalk..." or "Try this program and THIS IS HOW YOU
DO IT in that program:..." Thanks for any help.

Robert
