Myke Cuthbert dreams of "a basset extension for a C clarinet. Would be nice
to be able to play viola parts w/o xposition or lack of range getting in the
way of the interferring alto clef. :)"

You can easily play alto clef parts on a Bb clarinet by reading bass clef
(and of course moving the key signature two positions sharpward). You're
still missing the two bottom semitones, but it's workable. I've sat in with
spur-of-the-moment viola-less string quartets several times. The worst
problem is that string players can talk while they're playing, but you can't
:-;)

Best regards.
