Thanks Bruce! I learn something everyday. I am
definitely NOT a string player, and always welcome
things like that.

I guess if a clarinettist wanted to play viola parts,
they would have to play a "full boehm" A clarinet to
sound a low C (Eb written.) I believe that Patricola
makes a clarinet model with a low Eb, but am not sure
if any other makers who market to the US make them.

Myke...does that help? Of course, you would have to
transpose the part, but if you don't regularly read
alto clef, you would be transposing (clef transposing,
not note transposing) to play the viola parts on C
clarinet with the basset extension anyway.
