In high school, we of course discovered that the tenon at the bottom of the
upper joint would fit into the socket at the top of the barrel. That let you
put half a dozen upper joints together. It sounded appropriately awful.
Ignatius Gennusa (who's not known as "Iggy" for nothing) has been running ad
in The Clarinet shows him and several students playing a
clari-clari-clari-clari-clarinet.

Playing duets on a Bb and A clarinet is great. Even better is swapping the
lower joints, which makes two instruments at the quarter tone, each out of
tune in its own horrible way. Starting a duet on these is guaranteed to
bring the band director on the dead run within 15 seconds.

Ah, for the old days.
