Subj: [kl] Center tenon gap
Date: Wed, 9 Jan 2002 16:36:14 -0500

I have noticed that there is a gap between the bottom of the lower joint socket and the bottom of the upper joint tenon of my Buffet R-13 Greenline when it is fully assembled. I asked the Brannens about this and they said that every top of the line French clarinet they have ever serviced has had this gap, but none of the manufacturers have told them why it is there. Does anybody know what purpose this gap serves or the effects of enlarging or reducing it?

Thanks,
Josh Gardner
