If you go to www.codamusic.com (the people who make Finale) you can find a
free music notation program- Finale Notepad. It is simple to use, although
it doesn't have all of what you will find at their upper level software, it
works quite well. If you wish to upgrade, you can check out their other
products: Print Music, Finale Allegro, and Finale at a variety of prices and
feature levels. One of the mistakes people make is wanting a simple piece of
notation software and going all of the way to Finale's high end software.
Most people don't need all of the bells and whistles of the high end. For
those who are interested, the newest versions of Finale are great and
continue to get easier and more user friendly all the time.
