A cursory search on the Internet or going to a library and using a reference
librarian to help do some research will bring a wealth of research in this
"phenomenon", both pro and con, that will allow someone to at least form an
informed opinion instead of dismissing the notion out of hand. There have
been extensive studies done.

PS - "The Mozart Effect" is a registered trademark. The Mozart phenomenon is
not.
