Of course, this is not true at all. Glenn Miller, and other British
bandleaders who patterned their bands on his, were VERY popular in England
and continue to be to this day. The headquarters of the Glenn Miller
Society is located in England. The British people were also very
appreciative of the fact that Miller gave up his VERY lucrative civilian
band to volunteer his service, and ultimately his life, to his country and
theirs (he was too old to be drafted).
