Fred,
Is this procedure being recommended to you as a cure for snoring? If so,
you could have obstructive sleep apnea, in which case surgery is not the
answer. I have OSA, and I've been told by other musicians to avoid having
any kind of surgery for my condition. I'm using a CPAP machine with great
success. Just curious - was this recommended by a sleep specialist or an
ENT? From what I have learned, sleep specialists almost never recommend
surgery for sleep apnea; ENTs often do.
My advice is to head over to alt.support.sleep-disorder. There are very
likely to be people who have had this procedure done and could give you good
answers to your questions. If you don't have a newsreading program, you can
access the newsgroup through www.google.com.
Feel free to write me privately if you want to talk more about this.
