Hello, Clarinet and Klarinet Lists.

You guys might get a kick out of this! They've already
been having fun with it on the Tuba, Trombone and Viola
Lists.

Dead Russian Composer Personality Test

I was a shy nerd as a kid, with thick coke-bottle lenses
in thick, black plastic-framed glasses. Now I look like a
fat, dumb, ugly, bald trucker, with thick lenses in silver-
colored metal frames. So it figures that when I took this
test, I came up as Shostakovich, with the thick coke-bottle
lenses in thick, black plastic-framed glasses. (Ah nayvir git
tew dew NUTH-thin funn! *pout!*)

May you all enjoy the coming holidays, with the joyful
ear-splitting aires of the "Dead Sea Squirrels" singing their
nerve-shattering renditions of Holiday Carols. I know I will!
(This is one of my crazy old jokes, that I just explained to
the FluteNet List. We have a lot of silly humor on there,
but they also explain some neat stuff, that a non-performer
composer like me, finds fascinating!) Ask me to explain the
Dead Sea Squirrels later; I'm going out of town for a week.

Also, I've already begun sketching a Sonata for Bb
Clarinet and Piano. I like to research newer works for an
instrument, when I write for it, so I'm quite serious about
finding Newer Works for Clarinet that I can study, while
writing my sonata. I already know the Daniel Welcher
Clarinet Concerto (1989), but then we got to have him
come lecture us, 6 years ago, as one of the many Visiting
Composer Lecture Series that we get in the 3 Arizona
Universities. It's a nice work, with Jazz influences, but
I'd like to know of more works, written within the last
50 years, or last 20 years, if possible. (It's just plain hard
to find out this stuff!) Oh, well. Season's Greetings.
