>From a computer guy: you're doing the right thing with the verify (read
after write). If that passes you're going to be safer than most people.

If it's critical data (like for a business or perhaps your entire collection
of addresses and emails) it'd be best to store it in a physical location
_other_ than near the computer, just in case one of the locations burns
down.

If it's archival data (something you want to keep for a very, very long
time - > 50 years) you might want to read the Library of Congress reports on
CD-R storage. They don't consider most very reliable for long term data
storage.
