Which is why all the leading anti-virus programs have options to let
themselves auto-update.

But a little help from you, where you visit your systems "update home" and
have it install some patches, will help all of us. Some of the new worms and
viruses can be downloaded into your computer just by visiting an infected
Web page online - so clearly anti-virus software is still needed. Do you get
documents sent by other people? Then clearly you need to have those checked,
as many things become embedded in them. Most times there's no knowledge of
the problem by the sender until it's too late.

My anti-virus software examines all my _outgoing_ messages to ensure I don't
spread viruses that I may have accidentally downloaded that way.

Nancy, if you accidentally pick up as virus that way and spread it you may
not end up so smug ... you don't really want to have your email blocked by
your friends, I'm sure.
