For a much more up to date, and more "scientific" discussion of boresizes, see Lee Gibson's book "Clarinet Acoustics". (Gary Van Cott has it on his website). Order it!

It's not really a book, but more a collection of articles, but it does much to illuminate the various factors involved in bore size.

Most of what Gibson discusses is the effect on tuning, expecially as regards tuning the 12ths.

I found this book invaluable, and consult it often.
