A few years back, a repairman I know relayed this anecdote to me. He said
that he and Tom Wheeler (who last I know worked as the woodwind tech at
Yamaha, and for Buffet for a number of years prior to that) had a running
joke. He told me that over the years Buffet has gone back and forth on
oiling or not. He would always ask Tom when he stopped in, "are we oiling
now?" Sometimes the answer was, "Yes we're oiling again" and other times
"No, don't oil". He says this kept changing depending on the current
philosophy.
