NOTE THE FOLLOWING IS MY PERSONAL OPINION AND NOT MEANT TO OFFEND!!

With all due respect, some of you folks sure are awful stuffy nitpickers. I
believe Walter used his ears to decide there was a difference and I'll bet
he don't care about science in this circumstance.

The difference between (some) materials may be so subtle our ears cannot
detect the difference, but there HAS to be some difference. Too bad we have
to practically wipe out a species (grenadilla) for no reason.

I'm convinced Walter knows what he's talking about regarding surface
imperfections. We are talking about reflecting sound waves and this will
certainly have an effect. Hold a piece of cardboard in front of a fan and
see if it don't have an effect on the air.

Science and mathematics certainly play a role in music and musical
instruments. This is a necessary evil. However, music itself has nothing to
do with science and perfect reproduction of a performance by a long dead
composer (in my opinion) kills the pleasure. Why not have computers perform
the music if all that is important is science, mathematics and perfect
reproduction at each performance?

I'm glad I enjoy music for the pleasure it brings me. Too much science and
mathermatical precision destroys the pleasure.

Although a lot of you are pros who actually make a living from music, I
kinda feel sorry for you. From my uneducated perspective, I can choose to
listen to something simply because I think it sounds good. I'm not at all
hung up on science and mathematics. Mental visions of mathematical formulas
do nothing for my ears.

I sure wish there was more discussion of great listening music on this
board, my dream when I joined. How can you stand to spend so much time
talking about the same dead composers over and over and over?

REMEMBER, THESE ARE MY PERSONAL OPINIONS AND NOT MEANT TO OFFEND!!
