As I understand it, there is no harm in over-oiling a horn other than making
a mess. The wood will only absorb what it needs and the rest will swab out.
I run an almond oil swab through all my horns every Fall and maybe once or
twice more through the Winter.

Do we actually *need* to oil? Who knows, but I've never hurt a horn from
over oiling, so I prefer to play it safe. Besides, almond oil smells nice...
