Are you sure the embellishment is not written in or suggested in the
Barenreiter edition? Our community orchestra played the Beethoven 8 score
edited by Jonathan Del Mar a while back, and there are a number of
interesting points of departure from the "norm". One of our violists
happens to be a cousin of Jonathan Del Mar's and tells us that Jonathan is
quite a genius, and I'm sure you will enjoy performing his edition.

Subject: [kl] Beethoven 2, embellish Larghetto?
Greetings List,
Was just listening to a new release of Beethoven's
2nd Sym. (David Zinmann conducting) and to my
complete surprise, the clarinetist lightly embellished
the melody in the Larghetto! WOW! A local conductor
has asked if I would do the same on an upcoming
concert in Santa Fe. I'm excited to try something
new but don't want to over do it!
Apparently we will be playing from a brand new
set of Urtext that has just been published by
Barenreiter & edited by Jonathan Del Mar. Anyone
know any details?
WOW, embellished Beethoven, I'm still in SHOCK!
Thanks!
