Hi Lori,

Now you can stop telling me off for embellishing stuff at Kammermusik
<grin>.

My feeling is that Betthoven 2 is just about on the transition period when
players' embellishments (as part of their natural performance) started going
out of fashion. But I think it would still have happened at the time. Dan
Leeson, Tony Pay?

Subject: Beethoven 2, embellish Larghetto?
Message-ID: <84.1fa76dbb.293fd539@-----.com>

Greetings List,
Was just listening to a new release of Beethoven's
2nd Sym. (David Zinmann conducting) and to my
complete surprise, the clarinetist lightly embellished
the melody in the Larghetto! WOW! A local conductor
has asked if I would do the same on an upcoming
concert in Santa Fe. I'm excited to try something
new but don't want to over do it!
Apparently we will be playing from a brand new
set of Urtext that has just been published by
Barenreiter & edited by Jonathan Del Mar. Anyone
know any details?
WOW, embellished Beethoven, I'm still in SHOCK!
Thanks!
Lori Lovato
