It really depends on the brand. I've always had a preference for
Vandoren reeds but was horrified by the inconsistency, sometimes only 1
or 2 out of the box would be playable. My clarinet teacher recommended
the Vandoren V12 at my first lesson with him and I've found them to be
more consistent perhaps 3 or 4 of the 10. Other brands have differet
ratios. The last time I played Mitchel Luries I got 4 of the 5 playale
with minimal work. And, as everyone knows of course, Rico has the lowest
ratio of them all a big fat zero.
