Alisa,

Just be careful that "experienc[ing] things in school I didn't" doesn't
become the only reason why you want her to do them. Or at least that it
isn't a rationale you're quoting to her with any consistency. It isn't
really a strong enough reason from her point of view, and it denies (or will
sound as though it denies) her ability to choose interests for herself.
Modern schools offer so much, or try to (sometimes more variety than they
can maintain effectively), that no student can possibly take advantage of
everything that's available. The system is designed to offer choices. By
doing so, it is also designed to force choices. Sometimes kids' choices
would not be ours. What's important is that she choose constructive,
positive learning activities and directions.
