Subj: [kl] doubling/new buffet bass

Greetings List,
Was just reading David H's reply regarding
doubling and I wanted to add my two cents
as an orchestral player. YES, learn to double.
Can't tell you how many fun opportunities I
have had because I can play a little sax and
flute. I am forever grateful to my first private
teacher who encouraged me to add tenor and
flute in middle school. Thank you Arlen Asher.
Before I was able to play in an orchestra thank
goodness I could play saxophone, the only
jobs I could get at that time were doubling in
a 40'-50's dance band!
Speaking of doubling, I am proud to announce
the arrival of a new bouncing, Buffet bass clarinet!
Lisa is sending a couple for me to try tomorrow
and I can't wait! The weather here in NM has been
very, very dry and I'm concerned about the wood.
Does anyone have any tips?
Muchas gracias!
Lori Lovato
