Did somebody hear about synthetic reeds? I bought one yesterday made in
germany.

I think it is a little too hard and needs to be modified, but it sounds not
so bad...

This reed is a little bit porous nearly like cane, it has a weaved structure
which (I presume) is supposed to behave like cane's fibers.

It seems to lack of 'acoustic projection', but it sounds like 'clarinet' and
I find it surprising (especialy compared with 'plasticover reeds', which are
terrible to my mind).

I'll continue to play this read to have a better and more objective
sensations, I don't trust the first ones.

Yesterday I tested an other synthetic reed (an american one but I didn't
note the mark) without fibers. The sound haden't the same quality.

I never tested Legere reeds. Did someone?

I think a lot of progress have be done in synthetic reeds, and they are not
so far as giving a solution to the clarinet's nigthmare (10 years to wait?)

After this experiment, I have to confess I even enjoyed to play again with a
good old cane reed ;-)...
