"We Gather Together" is a hymn, out of just about any hymnal. The lyrics
are sort of confusing, but I like it. It goes:
We gather together to ask the Lord's blessing
He hastens and chasens his will to make known
The wicked opressing will keep us from
distressing
Sing praises to his name, he forgets not, his
own.

I don't get it because I can't imagine any
God that I know of "hastening & chasening". And I also don't get the
part about "the wicked Opressing." And why would he be "forgetting" his
name? You can see why I barely made it through college.
Anyhow it is a nice hymn in 3/4 time, and it sounds beautiful on
the clarinet in concert Eb or F for us.
"Over the River & throught the woods" is a great kids song in 6/8
time that goes:
Over the river & through the woods
To Grandmother's house we go
The horse knows the way
To carry the sleigh through the
White and drifted snow ow----
Over the river & through the woods,
Oh how the wind does blow
It stings the nose & bites the toes
While over the hills we go.

I have no idea where it came from, but I used to sing it in the 4th
grade. It is a "standard" old stupid American folk song that everybody
used to sing way back when. It is a good tune for teaching kids to count
correctly in 6/8 time, and also to "sing" to see it they got it right.
So much for my contributions. Tony, I hope you have a great
Thanksgiving. I am leaving on Tuesday morning.
I will try to write to you before I go. ANNIE
