Subj: [kl] Thanksgiving Music This Year
Date: Sat, 17 Nov 2001 10:58:33 -0500

I have to organise an evening of music appropriate for this years
Thanksgiving Day. I have the usual selection of American folk songs -
Stephen Foster etc, and the American National Anthem. Does anyone have a
piano copy of God Bless America and The Battle Hymn of the Repuplic they
could e-mail to me, (I have Sibelius Ver. 1.4)

Could you also advise me if Irish and Scottish folk songs would be
appropriate? Are the Frank Sinatra songs OK? And what else might be
appropriate this <particular> Thanksgiving? Would it be inappropriate to
play things like New York, New York? (from the film).

This occasion is quite informal being the restaurant of the Hilton Hotel at
Gatwick UK. We do have quite a large gathering of American visitors
regularly, Last Thursday the Philadelphia Orchestra passed thru`, and an
American air-hostess made a drunken pass at me. Don`t worry - anyone would
need to be drunk to make a pass at me - I didn`t accept her kind offer. But
I know someone who did.

I digress. Please, I`m relying on you all to offer me some sound advice. I
don`t want to be caught out with something obvious that I`ve forgotten
about, or indeed play something which could be insensitive - the Richard
Rogers ballet sequence for instance.

I shall be indebted to you all for some mighty fast suggestions.

Thank you.

Tony W.
