Magnus says:
<<I've tried to change barrel but the effect is, as you
mentioned Richard, that the second register goes sharp. I´ll try to do these
adjustments you suggested.>>
Since the second register goes sharp with a shorter barrel, you might want
to try one with a narrower bore.
I have had a lot of luck with a sharp reverse taper, starting smaller, and
slightly more tapered than the "Moennig" bore (I'm measuring here from a
Buffet "Moennig" barrel).
On my clarinets, and several others, I have been able to drop the throat
tones, and keep the clarion A, B, and C in line.
I can't say for sure if that would work on an S1, since I haven't tried it
with one.
Walter,
I`m ashamed to admit that I don`t know much about Buffet instruments, having
moved in the direction of Leblanc some years ago.
Throat tones - used in America to identify G, G#, A, Bb right below the
break. I don't know if this is used in the U.K.
Walter Grabner.
Tony`s?
If <throat> tones are what you are specifically enquiring about - I`m not
sure I fully understand your question - is the answer to your query - "yes",
this <is> what we call them in U.K. Comprende?
And should it be - Tonys`? :<)
