I think, all too often, those of us who teach are way too insecure within
ourselves and misinterpret our students. This sort of thing happens quite a
bit, I think.

As for this discussion of the "American Sound", on the one had I have a
legacy on the East Coast and on the other I have two distinct ones on the
West Coast as well. *G* Now how is that for attempting to learn as much as
possible without going insane?
I am not going to name drop as I do not feel it serves any great purpose.
Besides, I am not playing right now, so I would not wish to embarrass any of
my teachers!
