Dan, a very interesting point; a very thought-provoking one at that. Let me
try to begin to answer by asking you a question:

Taken solely on its own merits, is Mozart's Serenade for Winds (no 10 in B
flat major, K 361 (370a) "Gran Partita") a great work? (No references to
other Mozart works or the works of any other composers allowed.)
