I'm also very interested in this question. I'm playing older, but very fine
clarinets from Fritz Wurlitzer in different systems (Oehler, Schmidt-Kolbe
and also Reform-Boehm like you) from e-flat till bassethorn and
bassclarinet.
As far as i know, based on three articles with illustrations from 1905/1908,
published in Germany (further details not available at this moment, but
copies in my possession)in which the Schmidt-Kolbe and Reform-Boehm system
is presented for the first time (The Reform-Boehm system is already 95 year
"old" and not 50 years as mentioned in other post!) this system was first of
all made by the German maker Louis Kolbe/Altenburg till appr. 1925. I have
never seen a clarinet made by Louis Kolbe with the key-work as illustrated
in the mentioned articles. He has made very few clarinets with this
complicated key-work, i think.
As you probably know the real (relatively) success for these systems in
Germany and the Netherlands (professial use) came after the co-operation
with Fritz Wurlitzer/Erlbach, started in 1932-1935.
The Schmidt-Kolbe system was made by Fritz Wurlitzer/Erlbach till 1974 (see
his catalogue from 1957), Herbert Wurlitzer/Bubenreuth (till appr. 1964) and
Karl Hammerschmidt/Burgau till appr. 1972, this system has died now. The
reform-Boehm system was more succesfull and is till now popular for
professional use in the Netherlands and maybe some other countries.
Nick, if you are interested in copies of the mentioned articles please
contact me personally.

Has anybody on the list ever seen a Reform Boehm made by Schmidt? I have
not, and would like to examine one. Nick Shackleton
