Some of the replies to this question brought a question to my mind. I have
been very impressed by Harold Wright's recordings of the Brahms' Clarinet
Sonatas. I had thought that I played with a reasonable understanding of
musicianship until studying these two recordings. What a revelation!
Somewhat like Mr. Hatton's long ago student experience playing along side a
more experienced professional clarinetist.
My question: Where does Harold Wright rank in his "influence" on the
American "Clarinet Sound". (That is, if such a "sound" does, in fact,
exist.)
Just asking for opinions, not arguing in any way.
