Mike,

I really think you need to try them out for yourself.
I have tried all of the above. I have Buffet
instruments and Patricola instruments also. I do not
play on a Patricola Bb (I have an Eb) and my Buffet
instruments are all RC bore (not R13). Preference is
in the playing of the person in question. If you are a
good enough player to be looking at these instruments,
you should decide for yourself, as you are the one to
be satisfied.

Where are you located? Do you have a store you are
buying from or are you doing mail order? You might
want to try a few other brands out also, if you have
access to a local store for instruments.

One thing that definitely makes my ears perk up is the
Patricola instrument is 1/2 that of a Buffet Prestige
13 and a good 20% less than a regular R13. If you are
not really able to make a decision on your own,
Patricola might be the way to go, since they are so
much cheaper, but are VERY well made. Everyone doesn't
HAVE to have a Buffet to have the "best" clarinet.
Since I can't tell you what YOU would prefer (since I
am not you) this would at least keep the costs down.

E-mail me privately if you want other information. I
wouldn't want to bring up this thread of "THIS brand
of clarinet is best." If it wasn't a preference
situation where everyone likes different things, one
company would make all of the clarinets for the world.
