Subj: [kl] The American Style of Playing or the American Sound

It seems to me that Isabelle's explicit and unambiguous question had to
do with something called "The American Sound." But the responses that
are coming back have changed the playing field to "The American Style of
Playing."

Greg Smith is correct in his recognizing the importance of the material
he presented, but I don't think that that was the question posed.

Maybe I'm mixed up, but the two subjects appear to me to be quite
different. One alludes to a specific sound character produced by
American players (which is a difficult thing to speak about in any case)
and the other speaks to a style of playing (which, while equally
difficult to speak about, addresses an entirely different topic).
