No, though it's the only case in which there might be thought to be some
way of quantifying 'success', or in which 'bullying' a student could
possibly make sense. But as I think I said, I've decided that bullying
a student of any sort into practising doesn't make sense.

I suppose I wouldn't post here if I were considering reaching only
players who were aiming at entry into the profession; though it is true
that most of my direct teaching has in fact been of players who say they
want to become professionals.

The burden of my post answered your question, but in a different way.
Because if someone discovered that they didn't want to be a professional
clarinet player out of having lessons with me, then that would be a part
of my role in their lives, too, wouldn't it?
