Mr. Matson's standard facing was 34, 22, 12, 6, and 102 on his gauges.
My gauges measured the same on one of his mouthpieces, except for the
tip, which is 104 on one tip gauge, and 107 on another.
The brilliance and high pitch are probably related. A high baffle will
cause both shrillness and high pitch. If the mouthpiece is the right
length, then the bore could also be too short.
