A question has come in to me about recordings by Augustin Duques.

Can any member of the list please supply or help to locate a copy of his
recording of the Mozart Quintet K 581 on the US LP Stradivari STR 601
also issued on cassette?

I am aware of some privately owned early material (only partly identified)
which may eventually have reached his widow, Emmy Lou Duques.

He appears to have given the first known US broadcast of the Schumann
Fantasy Pieces with a pianist whose first name was Vladimir,
or Valdimir, second name not audible. Date uncertain?

Does anyone know the whereabouts of Mr Duques' friends and colleagues
Walter Lewis and Bill Bachman? Maybe I am too late.

His NBC SO clarinet colleagues between 1937 and 1954 were Harold
Freeman, Alfred Gallodoro, Louis Green, Georges Grisez, Louis Klein,
Robert McGinnis, John Peper, Wallace Shapiro and Alexander Williams.
He taught at the Juilliard and his students included Earl Thomas,
(Charlotte SO, N. Carolina), Billy Kerr and Gene Kavadlo.

I would be grateful for any contributions
Thanks
Mike Bryant
