No. *No-one* thinks it's unjust for Americans to defend themselves
against mass murderers who commit acts of war.

It's just that you (we) may not be (ulitmately) doing that in our
present actions. We may just be making matters worse.

Or, we may be defending ourselves, but doing unjust things to innocent
people as well. That may be what he meant by, 'unjust'. Perhaps you'd
then want to say to him, all war is unjust.

He'll answer for himself; but one thing is sure, it's worth bearing in
mind the consideration that we may be wrong, even as we take what
seems to be the only possible direct action.

It'll make it easier to change our policy if it looks as though it's
going nowhere. It would be terrifying if, in addition to all the other
problems, we had to try to prove ourselves to have been right.
