[Concerning the difference between French-cut and German-cut reeds.]
I'm glad you pointed that out Bill. I thought that the difference in the
French-cut and the German-cut was that the French-cut was a generally
larger, overall thinner reed for the French style mouthpieces that have a
wider lay. The German-cut reeds were generally thicker and shorter for the
German style mouthpieces with the narrower lay.
Maybe someone can tell me where I was confused, because I do think it is
something we should be familiar with if we are passing on information to our
students who go to the stores insisting on one thing or another.

I'm NOT being sarcastic here. I really want to know where I was confused if
you can help.]
