I have noticed that after a week of really intense rehearsals , or a weekend full of weddings or Bar Mitvahs, that a few hrs. on the bass clarinet really makes my face feel good. I live near the Famed National rt. 40, on the toll schedule it charged tolls based on the width of the wheels, thiner wheels payed higher tolls. Wheels over 8 inches were free. That was because any ruts that were made in the mud road were filled in when the 8 inch wheels ran over them. I guess the Bass Clarinet has the same effect.

"I have noticed that I've gotten better on the Bb after extended play periods
on the eefer."
Nah, anything sounds better after an Eb clarinet

It is like the old vaudville joke "Doctor, It hurts when I bang my head against the wall"
"well don't bang your head against the wall and call me in the morning"

I think it would be very interesting to give a "meyer-briggs" personality indicator test to all clarinetists and see if there were diffences between Eb players and the rest of the group. All I know is before there was prozac Eb clarinet was way more fun!!!!
