Dr. Raphael Sanders teaches applied clarinet, woodwind methods at the
University of Nevada, Las Vegas and performs with the Sierra Wind Quintet.
Dr.Sanders, began studying the clarinet in the tenth grade and was awarded
a full scholarship to the University of Hawaii upon graduation from high
school. He earned the Bachelor of Music Education degree from that
institution. Dr. Sanders prides himself on musical diversity. While he
embarked on a career as a band director. He performed as principal
bassoonist with the Leeward College Wind Ensemble and as tubist in a summer
band symposium. In 1982 Raphael auditioned on the clarinet, and became a
member of the USAF Band. As a member of this world renowned organization,
Raphael toured the country both as principal clarinetist of the band, a
chamber musician and as a saxophonist in the USAF jazz band. In 1987,
Raphael was accepted as a scholarship student at the San Francisco
Conservatory of Music to study the clarinet. He graduated with a Master of
Music with highest honors.

Dr. Raphael Sanders' clarinet teachers include Robert Marcelus, David
Breeden, Larry Combs, Richard Stolzman, James Gillespie, John Scott, Henry
Gulick and Lee Gibson. In 1994, Raphael completed all requirements for the
degree of Doctor of Musical Arts in Clarinet Performance from the University
of North Texas.

In 1996, Dr. Sanders was selected as a Buffet Artist/Clinician- a very
prestigious honor (Buffet, located in Paris, France, produces the best and
most outstanding instruments in the world and are used by most of the
world's greatest clarinetists).

Master woodwind maker, Francois Kloc, will be at GRANER to examine your
instrument and to give you the benefit of his experience as a woodwind
product specialist. Francois Kloc began his apprenticeships at the age of
15, receiving his introduction to oboe manufacturing at Mignout and
Rigoutat. Mr. Kloc has worked with research and development of clarinets
and oboes for Buffet Crampon of Boosey & Hawkes. Since 1995 he has worked
with the manufacturing of bassoons and saxophones at Schreiber and
Keilwerth, both are Boosey & Hawkes companies.
