Dear Robert,
Thanks for your kind words. But I am still upset. Roger has left the
list and blocked my mail. I wish that he would return. I am not that
great of a clarinetist or debater to be much of a threat to anybody. I
had been confused by him for months, but not upset at him. He once told
the list the story of a dishonest kid who grew up to be a crooked
politician. This was while he was in the middle of an argument with my
clarinet student. Then, when he was questioned about his story about the
crooked politician, he said that it had nothing to do with the argument,
that the story had just come from nowhere. This didn't upset me, but it
confused me. I had thought of it as a rather peculiar debate tactic.
That's why I sometimes view the debates on our list as pro wrestling
matches, because the contenders want to win so badly that they will try
strange tactics. But I didn't want Roger, or anybody, to leave the list.
I had made a few wise cracks about various "contenders" but I have
really grown very fond of all of them. I had been annoyed at Tony Pay
for months, because he seemed to be arrogant, (he probably still is) but
I don't care anymore because Tony has become my friend. And I do want to
eventually observe Robert Moody's altissimo techniques. ANNIE
