I think it was probably me that put out those questions as I played the
Soliloquies back about then and I had similar questions. I seem to remember
that the consensus was not so much as a harmonic that was asked for, but a
change in tone quality. ie. playing the note without your octave key, using
different fingerings, etc...

I'll see if I can find any of my notes about it...
