For the first time in my 20 year teaching clarinet career, two students
(5th graders) who have a lesson together came to me last week and
announced to me that they don't want to progress any further. They would
like to stay in their current method book for a total of two years and
don't want to do new things any more. They just want to repeat things
they have already done in the book. Of course I explained to them why
that doesn't work, but it was funny to hear them actually tell me they
don't want to progress on the clarinet for the next 2 years. They seemed
to have worked it all out.
