I thoroughly enjoyed your very lengthy post Robert!

I have a couple of questions of clarification if you wouldn't mind responding?

At 04:37 AM 10/26/2001 -0400, you wrote:

If you go back and reread your answers to questions I asked - that would be
way, way back before you became very sarcastic.......and you will find I
asked if your students played specific repertoire. I asked how you keep
the brass and other non-clarinetists involved - and again, what repertoire
you do? It is my recollection that you did make a point of telling us that
this was a beginning band class. Now - it is possible that I misread your
post. But my questions were asked because you weren't making an allowance
for teaching to the entire class in your posts, and I was curious how you
did that. You did not responded to the questions - but you say in one post
that you did. I disagree - you didn't. Therefore, you are absolutely
right - I have no idea whatsoever what you or kids did in band. But I
didn't say I did. At any rate, here are my questions:

1. Was this a band of mixed instruments that met together?
2. How often did they meet?
3. What age and grade are they?
2. What repertoire did this band play other than learning by rote?

A final thing - your last sentence I snipped out above really caught me by
surprise. I never assumed that your clarinetists got behind - in fact - I
assumed they were probably ahead of the rest of the class. This was the
intent of my questions initially - to find out how the rest of the band was
keeping up with the clarinet section. You stated that you approached the
rest of them in a more "traditional" manner than the clarinetists -
therefore - I wanted to know what repertoire, etc. kept them going. This
was when you replied very sarcastically about games, teaching by rote,
etc. See how jumping to conclusions can cause an entire mess?

Best,
Roger Garrett
