Subj: [kl] Walking the Dog tips.

My 'tip', for what it`s worth, might be to think of the first 'main' theme
as a brash, cocky and brisk, (but not tempo wise) walk, as opposed to the
central theme, which could be thought of as a little more of a serenely
gentle, and airy stroll. Note that I am not influencing tempo changes, but
what should aspire to do from your 'interpretation'.

I would say tho` to not get too engrossed in theorising, as the piece is
little more than a happy-go-lucky accompaniment to the film`s action, albeit
a thunderously good example of what Gershwin was capable of as a tunesmith.
To try to view the film may further help in your perspective of this music.
I can`t help on that account, as I haven`t seen it.

Best,
Tony W.
