I'll one-up you there... :-) I have a special D&C reed that I use. I keep
it in my reed case with everything else. The top half has been cut off and
the back has been flattened. This is so I have a small reed that I can
stick in my key, BUT with the butt end flattened, I don't have to worry
about it falling out as I'm playing. If by chance it does fall out, it
won't make a lot of noise as it hits the ground.
