I listened to the MP3 excerpt mentioned below, and it's a lovely piece of
music. Could you give more information on the CD (like where to get it)? I
found nothing about the CD on amazon.com and on Ewazen's website.

I forgot to let those who were interested in finding out how to get the
"Ballade" for Clarinet, Harp and String Orchestra, know this info.

Here is his website:

Here is his email:

I am purchasing both versions (for string orchestra or for piano
accompaniment).

"Ballade" for Clarinet, Harp and Piano = $30

"Ballade" for Clarinet, Harp and String Orchestra (all parts) = $50

Here is a link to listen to an example of John Russo playing it. The CD is
The Clarinet and Flute Soloists (CRS):

On this CD, with John Russo playing it, the piece is about 13 minutes long.
It is tonal and includes some rather technically demanding, somewhat
chromatic, developmental areas. The piece comes across as a tone poem of
sorts, for solo clarinet, harp and strings. I could see ensemble directors
including it purely for it's programming nature and audience appeal (without
necessarily desiring to showcase a soloist, though it does this).

Please write Mr. Ewazen and let him know you heard a sample of his piece if
you like it. He was very friendly to me when I contacted him. He seems very
"down-to-earth".

Composers need to know that we appreciate their work for our instrument.
Sure, sales tell them alot, but I get the initial impression that our
letting him know that we appreciate his music means as much. Please let him
know, if you like the sample. Maybe he'll compose another wonderful
addition to the repertoire.

Robert
