I was curious if anyone knew how Anthony Gigliotti was doing. He was scheduled to perform with the Fairfax Symphony Orchestra this past Saturday, but was replaced by Michael Rusinek (Pittsburgh Symphony). The FSO's principal clarinetist had heard he has pneumonia.

He and his son Mark were scheduled to perform the Duet Concertino (R. Strauss). I actually heard them
perform this piece with the same orchestra a few years ago and really enjoyed hearing it. It was odd that there was no mention of Gigliotti's absence in the program and no bio on Rusinek. Seems it was a last minute change.

I was hoping to hear Gigliotti again since he was unable to make ClarinetFest. Anyway, I enjoyed hearing Rusinek who phrased everything so beautifully and has such nice tone. I remembered him when he was with the National Symphony. Now, I regret not going to the reception and meeting him.
